Translation & Literacy |
North East India is one of the most culturally and linguistically diverse regions in the world! Because of this there are a number of minority people groups who have yet to be given access to mother-tongue based education and literature in the language they understand best.
We strive to meet these needs by: Researching the needs of the communities in the region Recruiting mother-tongue translators to translate essential material into their won languages. Training these translators in areas such as linguistics, anthropology and literacy. Checking and Support to ensure the quality of translated material and ability of the translator to carry out his/her work unhindered. Publishing pre-primers, primers, story books, folk tales and any original or translated material in the mother-tongue. Partnering with likeminded individuals, institutions and organizations to see a common vision fulfilled |
Translation ProjectsWe equip mother-tongue translators with the tools, support and training required to translate vital material into their own languages!
|
Literacy CampaignsWe strive to help communities read and write in their own language, this means we need to work with them to develop writing systems and primers.
